How Much Does Tree Removal Cost in Cullman, AL?

It’s the first question almost everyone asks, and it’s a fair one: what’s this going to cost me?

The honest answer is that there’s no flat rate for taking down a tree - a 20-foot pine in an open field is a completely different job than the same tree leaning over your roof and a power line. But “it depends” isn’t very helpful when you’re trying to budget, so here’s a straight look at what actually goes into the price, and some rough ranges for the Cullman area.

What drives the price

Five things move the number more than anything else:

1. Size and height. This is the big one. Taller and thicker means more time, more rigging, and more wood to cut and haul. A small ornamental tree is a quick job; a mature hardwood or a tall pine is a full day with a crew.

2. Location and access. Can we get a truck close to it, or does everything have to be carried out by hand? A tree in the front yard next to the driveway is easier - and cheaper - than one in a fenced back corner with no equipment access.

3. What’s around it. A tree with open space to fall is straightforward. A tree over your house, a fence, a shed, or a power line has to come down in pieces, roped and lowered carefully. That’s slower, more skilled work, and it costs more because the risk is higher.

4. Condition. Dead, storm-damaged, or leaning trees are less predictable to take down safely, which can add to the job.

5. Cleanup and haul-off. Do you want all the wood and brush gone, or do you want the trunk cut into firewood lengths and left on the property? Rough ranges to expect

With the caveat that every job is different, here’s roughly where most residential removals land around Cullman County:

• Small tree (under ~30 ft, easy access): a few hundred dollars.
• Medium tree (~30-60 ft): typically several hundred to around a thousand.
• Large tree (60 ft+, or big hardwoods): often $1,000-$3,000+.
• Hazardous removals (over a house, near lines, storm-damaged): priced by the specific risk and rigging involved.

Treat those as starting points, not quotes. A big tree in a wide-open pasture can come in well under a smaller tree wedged between two houses.
